Rustic Details Set a Very Romantic Tone for This Real Wedding
Michelle and Mark agreed that they wanted a rustic and intimate wedding and their wedding at The Ranch Golf Club in Southwick, MA was the perfect backdrop to make their dream wedding a reality.
The couple met when they were high school, but it wasn’t until college that their friendship became more intimate. As they say, from then on, the rest was history for this happy couple. Here’s an intimate look at the wedding of Michelle and Mark and their picture-perfect day!

Mark and I are most comfortable in our home and he came up with the amazing idea to surprise me on a day that he had off. He knew the exact time I arrived home from work and went out and purchased a ton of flowers and sidewalk chalk. In our driveway, he wrote “Marry Me?” in huge letters and decorated it with flowers. He was waiting outside for me to arrive. I was so shocked I couldn’t get out of my car!
From the start, I knew I wanted a rustic, intimate wedding. We had a small guest list so we knew we would be able to accomplish the intimate part but finding a venue that perfectly fit the rustic theme was a little more challenging. When we visited The Ranch Golf Club for the first time, we knew that that was going to be our location. We were looking for something that was different outside of the ordinary ball room and fell in love with the open feel of the barn and court yard of The Ranch. I came up with the color palette because I knew I also wanted to throw in romantic touches. What goes better together than rustic-meets-romance detailings?
I fell in love with dusty rose colored bridesmaids dresses and let all of the girls pick their own style for comfort! It worked out perfectly because everyone looked amazing and felt comfortable in the style they chose.
My favorite moment is a toss up! I think I have two favorites. My first favorite moment was our first look. Since we aren’t extremely traditional, I knew I wanted to do a first look. The first look helped us to calm our nerves before we walked down the aisle and also made us so excited for the night to get started. We met at the top of a hill right underneath a tree where there was tall grass. It was such an amazing moment to see each other before anyone else got to and I am so happy to have that moment captured.
The best advice I received on wedding planning was to not stress the little details. We had a lot of little things happen on the big day such as Mark forgetting his pants and shoes at home. But we did not let this get in the way and he was lucky to be able to get to the venue just in time. We look back at this now and can’t help but laugh!
The decor, flowers, and style were all designed by ByQuinn Designs and the rustic details showcased both our styles perfectly. There were also many handmade items such as the lanterns that hung from the tree that draped slightly over our ceremony, the wooden bases for each table that were hand cut by my father, and also our signs and seating chart. We had about 130 guests which filled up space nicely and also created a fun atmosphere where everyone danced the night away!
My [second] favorite moment was our first dance. We were surrounded by friends and family but it felt like it was just the two of us in the room. We picked “From the Ground Up” by Dan and Shay and it fit us perfectly. We laughed together the entire time and it was so perfect. I couldn’t have imagined our first dance to feel the way that it!
We wanted the day to be a great fit for our personalities. We are both fun loving and love to dance and have a great time. We included games, great food, such as an ice cream sundae bar, and lots of dancing! Throughout the venue, you were able to find We wanted the day to be a great fit for our personalities. The one thing we look forward to most as newlyweds are starting our family. As a couple, we have already accomplished so many amazing things. We bought our first home together almost 4 years ago, both have great careers, and also have the best dog. We now are looking forward to becoming a family!
For our Honeymoon, we went on a “mini-moon” to Ogunquit, ME which is one of our favorite destinations. We enjoyed lounging by the pool, going to the beach, and exploring the town! For our one year anniversary, we will be in Athens, Greece and can’t wait to experience the beautiful culture and sights in Greece!
