A Winter Wedding Complete With Snowfall Is Everything This Couple Ever Wanted
Gabrielle and Joseph were college sweethearts. Gabrielle made the first move and asked Joseph to be her physics partner, and as she tells us, “the rest is history.” Months of dating lead to a beautiful Caribbean proposal, which then leads this couple to a beautiful winter wedding complete with snow. Here’s an intimate look at the wedding of Gabrielle and Joseph and their beautiful December nuptials.

Joey (my husband) knew I wanted to be proposed to on vacation. We had first told each other we loved each other on a beach. I love to travel. After about 6 years of dating, we went on our first cruise vacation together alone to the Caribbean. We flew into Puerto Rico and spent a few days there prior to boarding the boat. The first day I was so excited for my husband to see the ship as it was his first cruise. I also couldn’t wait to show him the sunset as I love seeing the sunset on the ocean. Originally, he was planning on proposing the second day of the cruise because it was the “fancy night” but my mention of the sunset changed his mind. Also, this would allow me to tell my family before we left port. He had the idea of having someone videotape the entire proposal. The problem was once we went to see the sunset, everyone he asked to “take a picture” didn’t speak English so he couldn’t explain what he actually wanted. After many failed attempts, I told him to stop asking and just enjoy the moment (I was clueless). However, he persisted and did find someone that spoke English. At this time the sun had set over the whole city. San Juan was lit up and he got down on one knee. We spent the remainder of our engagement cruise enjoying every moment.
CEREMONY & RECEPTION
The wedding day was everything I dreamed of. This was something I dreamed about since I was little. I knew I wanted to marry Joey when I was only a year into dating. Saying our vows made everything real.
I always wanted snow on my wedding day. I hoped for pictures in the snow and it was also a week before Christmas. When I awoke on my wedding day, I was blessed with snow. I thank my late grandpa and my husband’s late father for that because they knew how much that meant to me. All my vendors showed up on time despite the weather. The only hiccup was that the limo was an hour late picking up myself and my parents due to the road conditions. Our priest was amazing and kept our guests entertained. I got my dream pictures in the snow which came out beautifully. The food and the music were amazing. We both got so many compliments. This day was everything we dreamed of and more.
I always wanted a December wedding. Christmas is my favorite holiday and wanted a nod to Christmas without being over the top. I loved the idea of red and grey as my colors. My bridesmaids wore red and my junior bridesmaids were in grey. The guys were in a dark grey tux.
My décor was minimal as the venue we got married in spoke for itself. It was an estate and they decorated for Christmas with trees and wreaths throughout. My tables had poinsettias in red and white with cream linens. We were also very lucky with beautiful real Christmas trees that a bride set up the day before. We invited 260 guests to the wedding and 230 guests attended on the big day. We had about a $30,000 budget. We did have DIY projects. My one aunt made a stocking that served as my wedding card holder. Another aunt made my kissing balls that my junior bridesmaids carried. My cousin made myself and my bridesmaids muffs to carry down the aisle as well as my belle cape.
Remember that today is about you and your husband. Take time and enjoy your day. I stopped my husband on the dance floor to tell him to remember this moment. Don’t worry about the small things. Something will not go as planned and you can’t let it ruin your big day.
