A Southern Real Bride’s Search For The Perfect Lace Dress
Real Brides takes you on the journey a bride undertakes to find her dream dress! From inspiration to picking out “the one,” we share their search with you!
Our bride this week is a Southern gal who loves lace and only tried on two gowns! Read on to see how she picked her gown:
The Bride: Ericka Foust
This Tennessee bride had a romance for the ages: she’s with her high school sweetheart! The two eventually moved in together and are now ready to tie the knot in a spiritual and intimate ceremony. For a couple that has been together for nine years, the ceremony (and the gown!) had to be extra-special.
Ericka’s dream dress had to be three things: off-white, classy and most importantly, covered in lace.
“I have always thought lace was so classy and beautiful,” the bride explained.
We couldn’t agree more!
Ericka’s search for the perfect dress led her to the Facebook page for The Gilded Gown, a Knoxville, Tennessee bridal salon. It was there that she fell in love with a Justin Alexander gown that had her number one must-have: tons of lace.
Ericka came in and tried on two different Justin Alexander dresses, both complete with plenty of lace. To help her with her decision, the bride brought along quite the party: her stepmother, two family friends and three bridesmaids.
“I brought all of those special people with me because I knew they would give me their honest opinion,” she explained. “and they wouldn’t allow me to leave without looking absolutely beautiful!”
Gilded Gown owner Jacqui Wadsworth also commended Ericka on making the trip into the store, despite finding the gown she loved online.
“Every bride resonates to the gowns differently on her figure than she does to the photos online,” Jacqui noted. “I always say the magic happens in the fitting room! [Ericka] fell in love with the full illusion lace back, as opposed to the keyhole back gown. Everything changes during the bridal fitting experience!”
Ultimately, Ericka opted for the illusion back dress she saw in-store, and passed on the keyhole back dress she initially fell in love with online.
All it took was two dresses for Ericka to find The One True Dress (we’re all about Lord of the Rings puns at BridalPulse.)
The Justin Alexander gown the bride opted for had a trumpet silhouette with a demure Queen Anne neckline.
How did Ericka make the decision to pick the lacy gown?
“I chose it because I knew I wanted lace and a covered back. It fit me perfectly!”
As for trying on only two dresses, Ericka applied a familiar romantic philosophy: when you know, you just know!
Her advice for brides just starting the search: “when you find ‘the one,’ don’t try on any more dresses!”
