This Pinterest Rustic Wedding Was Equal Parts Boho and DIY
Newlyweds Shane and Tarah met in a place most people fear: a doctor’s office!
Well, kind of. Tarah worked closely with Shane’s mother at a cardiology office (both were nurses.) After a couple of years, the groom’s mother played matchmaker.
“She said she was trying to find him something to do on a Saturday night, not get him married!” Tarah exclaimed. “But honestly, it always made me feel special that she thought I was good enough for her son.”
The couple kept it in the family for the proposal, too.
The couple embarked on a trip to Biltmore Estates in Asheville, North Carolina. There, Shane went down on one knee and proposed to Tarah with her grandmother’s ring.
“I will never forget how he professed his love and told me how I want him to be a better man,” she said. “It was a truly magical day.”
The ceremony was perfectly in sync with the rustic theme. With the canopy of trees, the sound of a stream and dreamcatchers hung from the branches, the wedding couldn’t be any more intimate and outdoors-y.
Instead of a traditional ceremony, the couple opted to have a blessing of the hands and a handfasting. Ribbons symbolized the binding and promises between the two, and Shane also made vows to Tarah’s children.
One of the most beautiful parts of the wedding was Tarah’s attention to detail and DIY elements.
“I lived on Pinterest for a year,” Tarah explained. “I tried to find inspiration and then make it my own.”
Her favorite project? Making dreamcatchers from vintage lace doilies.
