Dunkin’ Donuts Just Released A Royal Love Donut
Royal love is pretty sweet
With the Royal Wedding less than two weeks away, we’re all feeling the love — and Dunkin’ Donuts is marking the occasion by releasing a limited-edition Royal Love Donut (which is interesting considering Meghan Markle’s pre-wedding diet).
Released in honor of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s upcoming wedding, the Royal Love Donut is a heart-shaped donut filled with jelly and frosted with chocolate icing and a strawberry drizzle and will be available for a limited time May 14 through May 20 at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants nationwide, and is a fun addition to the already-long list of royal sweets entering the marketplace, like this adorable Royal PEZ.
Dunkin’ Donuts has a history of loving to celebrate the royal family — they also made a Royal Wedding Donut for Prince William and Kate Middleton in April 2011. That donut was a heart-shaped donut filled with jelly and topped with vanilla icing and a chocolate drizzle.
According to a statement from Dunkin’ Brands Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Nigel Travis, a dual U.S. and British citizen born and raised in Woodford, Essex, “As the U.S. donut leader, we love helping our guests make special occasions both big and small even sweeter with fun donut designs and flavors. The Royal Wedding represents optimism, happiness and joy, and thus is a perfect opportunity for our brand to celebrate. We hope all donut lovers, royalty or not, will enjoy the new Royal Love Donut this week.”

But that’s not the only way the donut chain will be celebrating. They are also going to have a special horse-drawn carriage ride the streets of NYC on May 14, allowing passersby a royal-like trip through Central Park. Carole Radziwill, real life princess (after her marriage to the late Prince Anthony Radziwill) and Housewife of New York, will take the ceremonial first ride in Dunkin’s royal carriage.
Considering how early Dunkin’ Donuts tend to open up, this may be the answer for what to eat May 19 at our early morning Royal Wedding viewing parties.
