This Mexico Real Wedding Kept It Low-Key and Barefoot

Biologist Tara and Vinny, a teacher, met while bartending one summer. While the two became fast friends, romance wasn’t exactly in the works — the two were dating other people at the time!

A year later and freshly single, the two went on a date to the beach and stayed at a bed & breakfast. That’s when the sparks flew!

“In the evening, while we were sitting on the porch in rocking chairs we just kind of looked at each other and I knew in that moment, he was the one,” Tara recalled.

Soon later, Tara left for an internship in Africa. While Vinny was afraid she would fall in love with the continent and not want to return, Tara already knew she was head over heels in love — with him. When she returned, they moved in together and two years later, Vinny got down on one knee.

Naturally, when the couple got married, they took it back to their original first date: the beach!

The couple’s creativity came into play for the ceremony!

“We wrote our own vows,” the bride explained. “That was the most special moment, to look at each other and feel so much love, from each other and everyone who shared in this moment with us. It was overwhelming. One of my favorite details was that we each wore a piece of jewelry from grandparents we were close to who had passed. Vinny had his grandfather’s cross and I had my grandmother’s ring, which was my something old, borrowed, and blue.”

The Reception

The reception took place on the Now Sapphire Resort’s Tequila Terrace. The tables had a beach theme, making creative use of seashells to reflect the location.

Tara says the reception was “full of love, dancing, and fun. For the reception, we brought some decor and signs with us and our wedding coordinator took care of everything on the day; we didn’t have to set up a thing. We didn’t expect to, but having our nearest and dearest with us celebrating for a whole week was amazing. The resort was so accommodating and beautiful. We had a great time.”
