Elegant Indoor Affair by Sky Events & Production
This beautiful Southern California wedding was truly a joy to plan. Rachel and Abraham wanted to accommodate a large group of friends and family—about 380 guests—at the Beverly Hilton. The ceremony and reception were held indoors, so it was important to create layers and interest in the room. Additionally, this couple wanted to adhere to the traditions of their Jewish faith, and I had to incorporate these elements in a way that reflected their classic, sophisticated style. The result was an elegant affair draped in romance and colors of white, gold and black. Most importantly, Rachel and Abraham were thrilled with the day. Mazel tov to them!
Getting Ready with Family
The bride got ready with her sisters and mother at the hotel. They donned custom-embroidered pajamas emblazoned with “sister of the bride” and “mother of the bride” during hair and makeup. After getting all dolled up, Rachel slipped into a gorgeous lace-and-organza Vera Wang gown with capped sleeves. Meanwhile, the groom perfected his dapper look in a classic tux. Her white peony bouquet completed their elegant, classic look.
Before the ceremony, Rachel and Abraham got together for first look photos. The big reveal was even more exciting than most, considering the bride and groom hadn’t seen each other for a week as part of Jewish tradition. The ceremony was held under a Chuppah, or traditional canopy, and it was so important for me to deliver what the bride envisioned. Shrouded in vines and white roses, I was so amazed with the outcome. It was truly beautiful. The finishing touch was the music. The bride and groom wanted each song to represent a time or person in their lives. They were touched to see their nieces and nephews walking out to “their song.” There was hardly a dry eye in the house!
An Elegant Affair
Another important element for this couple was the Mechitza, or separation between men and women on the dance floor. The bride wanted a separation that would make guest feel comfortable but not look like a wall that broke up the flow of the room. The outcome was open, reflective, and topped with more white florals in line with the elegant aesthetic. The decor was crisp, modern and romantic in a color palette of black, gold and white. A name-card table was highlighted by soft touches of baby’s breath, while centerpieces of white roses and votives in champagne glasses added texture, warmth and depth. After dinner, the Beverly Hilton erupted with dancing (Rachel’s favorite was “We Found Love in a Hopeless Place”) and a few party tricks—one guest even balanced a chair on his chin! The evening went off without a hinge, and I’m so happy to have been a part of this beautiful union.
