Wanderlust Wedding Destination Guide: Italy
Hey, Destination Brides! Every other week, we’ll be highlighting our favorite spots for a destination wedding! This time, we decided to head to one of the most romantic (and beautiful!) destinations on the planet — Italy!
It’s no coincidence that one of the biggest love stories of all time, “Romeo and Juliet,” took place in Italy — or, more specifically, “fair Verona.” From the wineries to the architecture to the mind-blowing cuisine, there’s no shortage of sights and smells that make Italy a stunning backdrop for romance. From Tuscany to the Amalfi Coast, Italy is the perfect setting for couples looking for drama that you’d be hard-pressed to find stateside.
Italy is a wonderful location for a destination wedding because it has such a wide range of scenery. There’s villas, the coast and vineyards. No matter what your theme, you’re bound to find a setting you (and your guests) are sure to fall in love with.
Take a look at some of our favorites:
This couple’s ultra-colorful nuptials perfectly capture the vibrancy of the region. Besides, any wedding that ends in the guests and couple jumping into an inflatable flamingo-filled pool is fine by us!
If you are all about a breathtaking backdrop, look no further than this couple’s coast-side big day. The stunning hillside village of Positano was the perfect location for Carlena and Andrew’s wedding, and the local Villa Oliviero was perfect for dinner and dancing.
An intimate wedding incorporating Rome’s most famous historic sights? Yes, please! We love how this couple used their stunning setting to their advantage: they had snaps overlooking the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and Pincian Hill.
A Venetian wedding? Be still, our beating hearts! We love how this couple played up Venice’s breathtaking canals and even took a gondola ride to St. Marks for photographs!
We’ve yet to see a more glamorous wedding than this stunning Lake Como ceremony and reception! The bride’s dramatic gown perfectly played up the stunning backdrop of the lake and the foothills of the Alps.
Our favorite part about this couple’s stunning Italian wedding? They chose to keep it simple and let the location speak for itself: their minimal decor played wonderfully against the beautiful setting of the charming village.
